Study Safari

Jonathan, the founder of Study Safari spent most of his 20 years in the IT field working in Durban South Africa.  During his one and a half years working in the UK he needed to do a Microsoft Exchange course and discovered it was cheaper to fly back to South Africa and do the course there than it was to do it in the UK. Knowing the Durban IT training industry he was also aware that the level of training in Durban was as good if not better than that in the UK. He had at one stage owned a successful web design and hosting company through which he got to know some of the top companies in the youth travel industry. On returning to South Africa he selected the best IT training company, youth hostels and travel companies in order to form Study Safari.

The aim of Study Safari is to provide top class IT training in conjunction with an action packed holiday where the students will not only recieve the best IT training but also learn first hand the beauty that South Africa has to offer.

Wild At Heart

Wild at Heart Youth Adventures is a privately owned, South African, family based business that started way back in 1997. The founding member, Billy Fourie, was born in Zambia and grew up in some of the wildest places in Africa. His passion for Africa's people and her wildlife, is believed to be born out of these youthful experiences.

Billy and Aileen Fourie have three children and six grandchildren and the entire family is involved in one way or another; in making 'Our Africa' a better place for all. This is achieved through active wildlife and community projects that encourage sustainable ecotourism through Business Ventures in Africa.

Wild at Heart have pioneered and introduced many innovative Youth Travel concepts in Africa. This has brought about incredible growth and awareness in the Youth Travel sector.

Since 1997 thousands of young people from all over the world have put their trust in our company to ensure that they really have an unforgettable experience in Africa.

This is accomplished through participating in Wild at Heart Voluntours, Wild at Heart volunteer projects, attending our IH (International House) English Language Institute and staying with us at our Travellers Lodge in Durban or our Safari Wilderness in Kenya.

We believe that the economic impact of our business has sustained many communities where we live as well as those we visit in other regions in Africa.
We teach and practice respectful environmental and cultural policies to ensure that the impact of our visits do not conflict with conservation guidelines and promote human respect, consideration and empowerment of those less fortunate than us.

Tribiking

My name is Rodney Heathcote and I have worked with young people for the past 25 years. I started in a non-profit organisation called Youth For Christ where for 15 years I worked with troubled & disadvantaged teenagers from Children’s homes & Places of Safety in the Durban area.

I was also involved in recruiting & training volunteers to assist me in these institutions. I was then employed as a Youth counsellor at Brettonwood High School in Durban for 9 years.

At the school I was responsible for counselling teenagers in all grades, teaching life skills & career guidance, & overseeing the activities of the Interact Club.

This is a division within Rotary where young people are encouraged to serve in their community by being involved in local projects. I have recently resigned from Brettonwood High School in order to be full time involved in running Tri-Biking Adventure - a non-profit organisation that I started 4 years ago.

The bike project has only occurred once a year as demo bikes are sponsored for a period of 2 weeks & then need to be returned to their respective suppliers & companies. In order to organise more than 1 bike programme per year I needed to purchase my own equipment & motorcycles.

Four years ago, in order to accomplish this, I started Tri-Biking Adventure which is a fully registered Non-Profit Organization. It aims to uplift teenagers by giving them a sense of self-worth through it’s bike programme that teaches important life skills.

The main aim is within one year to have grown Tri-Biking Adventure to the extent that the organisation will be in a position financially to enable it to fund the running costs of motorbike tours in Schools, Children’s Homes & poorer communities.

A further aim is to organise 5 International Motorbike Tours, where overseas bikers enjoy a 10 day tour in South Africa.

The tourists would have the opportunity to meet teenagers participating in the bike programme, and have the option of accompanying the teens on a bike ride.

Revenue from these trips would be use to sponsor teenagers from Children’s Homes and disadvantaged communities. What sets these tours apart from others, is that whilst tourists are enjoying the bike tours they are also impacting the lives of teens in need.

African Wild Surf Tours

Here at Africa Wild Surf Tours we’re all about Surfing!!

Surfing means different things to different people. For some its about the thrill of testing yourself against the ocean, for others its the adventure of searching for new spots and unexplored beaches, while for others its just about hanging out with your mates on the weekend. For us its about all of these things. We love to surf!! Its our passion! Its in our blood and its what keeps us going.

If there’s one thing we love as much as surfing though, its Africa! To many, Africa is the deep, dark continent, but to us its home. There is no place like it in the world! Nowhere else can you feel so free. Vast landscapes, abundant wildlife and diverse cultures, all under the watchful gaze of the African Sun. A true paradise!

At Africa Wild Surf Tours we’ve injected this love and passion for surfing and Africa into everything that we do. We want everyone who travels with us to experience what surfing in Africa is all about. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned professional, the African coast has something for you!
